“101 Simple Truths For A Better Life” Humble The Poet (29) “YOU HAVE REASONS TO BE MISERABLE”
I don’t know the specifics of your circumstances or situations, what I do know is you get to decide what you want to focus on. It’s very easy to only focus on all the things not going according to plan, or what is not meeting our personal expectations, trust me I know, I tend to do this majority of the time. It’s a conscious choice I make and I am learning each day how to stop wasting valuable time and calories being miserable. “When we make such a decision, our mood can snowball into a dark place, and all of a sudden all other pain begins to amplify as well. It’s what’s commonly referred to as a downward spiral.”
Me and you both need to make a conscious decision to be happy, and yes it may require work, doesn’t everything else already? Start with something simple, you’re breathing. “People who focus on things they’re thankful for will generally be happier. This process can begin with a list of everything you’re grateful for and you can start that right now.” I have and trust me, it makes a huge difference in my thinking and mental state. The change and growth will come from breaking a cycle, and yes it will generally be uncomfortable to start. Don’t fear the discomfort, in fact, welcome it. It’s not going to be easy, again trust me from personal experience. Just promise yourself that you will roll up your sleeves and do some work. “We tend to sabotage our happiness by ignoring the wonderful things in our life. It’s a martyr syndrome, where we confuse self-pity for self-love. Nothing worthwhile comes from feeling sorry for yourself. That self pity only isolates you from the beauty and catalyst of happiness around you.”
There are plenty of reasons to be miserable and there are plenty of reasons to be happy. Decide what you want in your life, and realize the responsibility for how you feel lies solely with you.
